  1. No because Cook just probably just needed to have a little taste of the soup.

    1. Regardless of what they like, shouldn't they still be accountable for the laws of the land? Why would they be allowed to break the law?

  3. I think Cook should of been punished because she made soup. The reason I think she should been punished is because soup is not allowed in the palace. Cook should not of made soup because King Philip maybe would have came in and sent her to the dungeon.

  4. I don't think that cook should be punished. I think that if i was in Cook's shoes I would be doing exactly the same thing. I mean the princess has been kidnapped, I would be freaking out. So all in all she should not be punished, she is going through as much stress as (the king not included) everybody else.

    1. Does stress entitle a person to do illegal things?
If that were the case, the world would be quite chaotic!

    1. Interesting thought Danna. Since it was the queen's favorite it should be honored.

    1. I disagree with the cook in the dungeon because it said nothing about the cook in the dungeon. When cook was making the soup cook as in the kitchen. I know this because for 1) it never said cook went to the dungeon and for 2) there is no kitchen in the dungeon

  8. yes because cook knows that cooking or eating the soup is outlawed in the kingdom of Dor so she should be punished.

  10. The cook might have just missed it so he just wanted to taste it because he just haven't eaten it in a while and missed having it around

  11. I think cook should obey the kings law because cook can be threw in to the dungeon. In the dark, rat filled, smelly, and evil dungeon.

  12. I don't think he should be punished. If I was a cook I would have the same thing.
and the king is going through a rough time because the princess has been kidnapped.

  13. I don't think cook should of been punished because she was just upset that the princess was missing and that maybe it was time to brake one of the rules to make herself feel a little happiness. I think it was proved on page 232. I think that it was proved by the first few dialogue parts when the cook says." And when times are terrible soup is the answer. Don't it smell like the answer"

  14. I agree with Elyse and the rest who don't agree that she should be punished because like Elyse said the cook just wanted to let off some steam.I mean it's not like the cook hurt anyone physically except of course Despereaux's tail and all,but that is not my point my point is that the cook shouldn't be punished.

  15. How do you think that the cook was letting steam of?

  16. I think the chef should be sent to the dungeon because she was making soup.Although the story would have changed.

  17. Cook should not be punished for what she did. Of course it is the law but I think (just my opinion) that if the king came out of his room while she was making the instead of sending her to the dungeon he would want a taste, even though he the king would be breaking the law. He might of stopped making soup outlawed(even though he does in the end of the story end of the story).

  18. Well Elyse if your Pricess was missing(if you were in the story) wouldn't you want to let of some steam?

  19. I disagree with the dungeon because on page 228 cook says " A mouse in my kitchen"
and it said nothing of the cook in the dungeon cooking soup.
